As a fashion fan, May (after the Met Gala) took me to fashion heaven and beyond, especially with the just concluded Africa Magic Viewer's Choice Awards (AMVCA), where we saw the Nollywood stars show up and show out.
The 10th AMVCA Awards, held on 11 May 2024, was a fashion-stopping show, with African stars and designers turning heads with their incredible creations. It was a beautiful sight, and I was thoroughly impressed with the various displayed styles. Though it was tough to narrow down my favorites, here are my top ten best-dressed women at the AMVCAs:

Toke Makinwa Wearing Veekee James
The on-air personality who never misses was on her Beyonce shit this very night. She stunned in a Veekee James shimmering metallic mermaid gown. The gown featured a unique hat-like detail on her left breast, which felt magical. This look did it for me. It was creative, and everything from the hair to the accessories matched was on point. To me, this gown made her stand out as the “Beyonce” (because of its metallic look)—Sorry, I mean the Toke Makinwa of the night.

Nana Akua Addo Wearing Yoli Koomson
I mean, it's Nana Akua Addo. She does it every time, and the Ghanaian actress once again gathered attention in her Yoli Koomson 3D dress, paired with Heidi Lee’s Endless Echo Hat. The look reminded me of Beyonce’s Echoville teaser, and I can only say that this dress was beautifully made and worn.

Osas Ighodaro Wearing Veekee James
The Nigerian actress showed up in a creative line and circle dress by Veekee James. I couldn't lie; this dress was a masterclass in using shapes (someone was paying attention in their math classes, Lols), sitting perfectly on Osas, and making her look stunning. This is the one time I can confidently say that the Math is Mathing.

Chioma Ikokwu wearing Weis Dhurm Franklyn
The hair boss and businesswoman came to the AMVCA red carpet with a sparkly stone dress and black flower decorations honoring the 2024 Met Theme: The Garden of Time. Her elegance shone through in her Weis Dhurm Frankly dress when I saw her. The first thing that came to my mind was “Bougie Barbie” in a good way. Of course, everyone who knows Chioma knows she is the Barbie who is bougie. It is safe to say that she left her dream house to eat up the AMVCA red carpet.

Beauty Estanyi Tukura Wearing Emagine By Bukola
The reality star was stunned by a creation by Emagine by Bukola; she wore a pink dramatic full-length skirt that trailed gracefully behind her with the clothing design hugging her slender waist. I thought her dress was a mixture of the European 60’s women's fashion and traditional Nigeria style. She reminded me of the cast of “Bridgerton” She looked as elegant as them. “For Lady Tukura was the fairest of them all.”

Uche Montana Wearing Veeeke James
Uche Montana looked gorgeous in a sparkle of crystal-made trail body hug gown, which helped emphasize her hourglass figure in a flawless fit by Veeke James. She accessorized with a sapphire and diamond drop earring, which matched well here. This dress resembles the Orry-Kelly black-and-nude cocktail dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the 1959 film Some Like It Hot.

Mitchel Ukachukwu Wearing Nzube Robert
With her sunflower yellow off-the-shoulder dress made by Nzube Robert, Mitchel Ukachukwu captured everyone's attention on the red carpet. The gown featured intricate yellow rope-like designs that created a wave-like effect. It was one of my favorites of the night—simple, fashionable, and chic.

Nini Singh Wearing Queenfrank

Nini Singh, unlike other attendees, went in a traditional material Queenfrank green crystal floral gown with a flow at the down part of her legs. This was a perfect use of Nigerian traditional material, showing the level of creativity that can be achieved with our locally-made material. I liked it.

Simi Drey Wearing Mide Wrld
Oh my God! When I saw Simi Drey’s look. It felt like a look straight out of a Vogue cover shoot. The laid hair, well-done makeup, and the breastplate on the crystal-net waist gown by Mide Wrld made her stand out. It was just a perfect blend of everything. Simi Drey did play.

Jemima Osunde Wearing Bibyonce
Jemima Osunde showed that sometimes simplicity is the best style. In a Bibyonce red crystal corset gown, she radiated beauty and elegance. Her look was not overly dramatic but perfectly put together, highlighting her natural grace. I love how simple she kept it. It was not too dramatic or all over the place
These women truly brought their best to the AMVCAs, making it a night for fashion enthusiasts like me to remember.
